Cataract Surgery

View treatment page →

No. Modern cataract surgery at our centre is performed under numbing eye drops (topical anaesthesia). You remain awake and comfortable, feeling only a cool water sensation and mild touch—no sharp pain or stitches.

No—that is an outdated myth from the era of large-incision surgery. Waiting until a cataract becomes rock-hard makes the procedure longer. You should consider surgery as soon as cloudy vision or glare starts bothering your daily life.

The procedure itself takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Once finished in the operation theatre, patients are discharged within about 10 minutes after receiving their post-operative instructions.

There is no single 'best' lens for everyone—the right lens depends on your retina health, corneal cylindrical power, and daily habits. Dr. Kulsum personally examines your eye and explains which lens options suit your lifestyle and budget.

Most patients resume reading, watching TV, and light household activities within 2 to 3 days. Driving can typically be resumed once Dr. Kulsum confirms your vision at the follow-up check.

ROP Screening & Treatment

View treatment page →

Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) is abnormal blood vessel growth in the retina of babies born early or with low birth weight. If caught early through screening, treatment can prevent lifelong blindness.

Any baby born before 34–36 weeks of pregnancy, weighing under 2,000 grams at birth, or who received oxygen in the NICU should be screened within 20 to 30 days after birth (or before NICU discharge).

No. We instil gentle numbing eye drops before the examination. Babies may cry for a minute because they dislike being held still and seeing the bright light, but the exam takes only a few minutes and is not painful.

Mild ROP (Stage 1 or 2) often heals on its own and only needs close weekly monitoring. If it progresses to a stage that threatens sight, we perform in-house laser treatment or anti-VEGF injection within 48 hours.

ROP screening and treatment are available during our regular OPD hours (9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Monday to Saturday) and via our 24/7 emergency line for urgent NICU referrals.

ICL Surgery

View treatment page →

LASIK uses a laser to permanently remove corneal tissue, which limits how much power it can safely correct. ICL places a microscopic foldable lens inside the eye without removing any corneal tissue, making it safer for high powers and thin corneas.

No. The procedure is performed using numbing eye drops. You only feel mild pressure for a few minutes and no sharp pain.

Not at all. The lens sits behind your coloured iris, so neither you nor anyone looking at you can see or feel it.

Yes. Because no corneal tissue is removed, an ICL can be removed or exchanged by an eye surgeon in the future if your eye needs ever change.

Diabetic Retinopathy

View treatment page →

Yes! Early diabetic retinopathy has no symptoms at all. By the time vision becomes blurry, macular swelling or bleeding has already started. A once-a-year dilated check catches changes when they are easiest to stop.

At least once a year if your retina is normal. If mild or moderate diabetic retinopathy is detected, Dr. Kulsum may recommend a check every 3 to 6 months.

When detected early, leakage and swelling can often be reversed or stabilised with good blood sugar control, anti-VEGF therapy, or retinal laser.

Glaucoma Care

View treatment page →

Glaucoma cannot be reversed once nerve fibres are lost, but it can be successfully controlled—just like high blood pressure or diabetes. With early detection and daily eye drops, most patients keep good functional vision throughout their lives.

In the most common type of glaucoma (open-angle), eye pressure rises very slowly over months or years, so the eye adapts without pain while the optic nerve quietly takes stress. Only a routine eye check can spot it early.

No—your pressure is normal *because* the drops are working! Stopping glaucoma drops without consulting your eye doctor allows the pressure to climb back up.

Paediatric Eye Care

Children should have a baseline eye check at birth (or within 30 days if premature for ROP), at 6 months, at age 3, and before starting school around age 5–6, followed by annual school-year checks.

That is a very common myth! Glasses do not weaken the eyes—they simply focus light clearly on the retina so your child's brain develops sharp 6/6 vision. Not wearing needed glasses actually strains the eyes.

At least 60 to 90 minutes of outdoor daylight play daily, holding books/screens at elbow distance, following the 20-20-20 rule, and using our medical myopia-control options can significantly slow down progression.

Dry Eye & Screen Strain

View treatment page →

Follow the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds and blink consciously. Position your monitor slightly below eye level so your eyelids cover more of the eye surface, avoid direct AC vents blowing at your face, and use preservative-free lubricating drops if your eyes feel dry.

When the protective oil layer of your tears is missing, the eye surface gets dry and irritated. The brain responds by flooding the eye with watery 'reflex tears' that don't stay on the eye. Treating the underlying dryness actually stops the watering!

Eye Tests & Other Services

View treatment page →

Adults with no symptoms should have an eye exam every 1 to 2 years. Once you cross age 40—or if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of glaucoma—an annual check is recommended.

No! All bookings at our centre happen quickly via a phone call or WhatsApp message to 7075557008.

Yes, we have an in-house optical dispensary at the centre offering quality frames, single-vision, bifocal, progressive, and children's glasses.
